About Jim Sandager
Jim Sandager specializes in investment and retirement advising for executives, professionals, and business owners. Jim is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in financial planning and investments. His Master's research paper, "What Consumers Look For In Financial Planners," was published in The Journal of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education.
In September 2002 Jim was recognized as one of the Top 100 Financial Planners in the country by Mutual Funds magazine. In this feature he was also awarded as the top Financial Planner in the Midwest and the only one in Iowa. He was pictured on the cover of the magazine. He has spoken as a resource for CNBC’s Closing Bell where he gave information that should be considered when consumers are hiring a Financial Planner.
Jim has served as chairman of the Financial Planning Association of Iowa and is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors.
Jim is a Council Member At-Large for the City of West Des Moines. He serves as chairman of the Citizen Advisory Committee for the City of West Des Moines Comprehensive Plan Update and is vice president of the West Des Moines Development Corporation. He also serves on the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and was recently appointed to serve on the Surface Transportation (STP) subcommittee. In addition Jim serves on a Task Force to study the creation of a Regional Transit Authority for the Des Moines metro area. Finally, he serves on the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Agency for the City of West Des Moines.
Jim is past president and current board member of the Des Moines Symphony Association. He was co-chair of the Citizens for the Family Aquatics Referendum for the City of West Des Moines, served on the Building a Learning Community committee for the West Des Moines Schools, is an alumnus of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and served as an officer of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce.
Jim earned his MBA at Bowling Green University in Ohio and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. He and his wife, Louisa, live in West Des Moines, Iowa, and have two children.
